Moldovan Cherry Pie

So here is the perfect recipe, for a Cherry Pie. A very simple recipe from The Republic of Moldova, full of beautiful organic and rustic cuisine.


90g Butter
90g Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
75g Plain Flour
750gr Morello Cherries
Icing Sugar


  1. Mix the butter with the sugar and eggs then add the flour and baking soda and mix until you have a smooth consistency. This can be put through a mixer if making 2 pies.
  2. Pour the mixture in a greaseproof paper lined 10 inch baking tray then spread the cherries on top.
  3. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees and bake for 30-40 minutes. Leave to cool then sprinkle icing sugar on top.
  4. The pie will be moist having taken on the juice from the cherries.
